Christmas Store

The Mission provides a Christmas Store each December for families who would otherwise have little or nothing for Christmas. Donations of new clothes, toys, tools, household items, personal care items, cleaning products, laundry supplies and money are solicited throughout the year by the Mission staff for distribution in mid-December.

Invitations are sent to the most needy families in the area in early December.  When the parents arrive to select Christmas gifts for their families, they are asked to donate two dollars to the Mission.  The second year a family participates in the Christmas program they are asked to take part in budget counseling and food and nutrition classes.  The subsequent year families are asked to give 12 hours of community service at St. Vincent Mission, a local school or other non-profit organization.  The fourth year they participate in a 12 week financial education class called "Faith and Finances".

If you are wanting to participate in the Christmas store a second year you must complete 8 classes prior to applying for the program. Click on the link below to see a schedule of the classes.

Christmas Store 2019

Individuals received clothing, household goods, toys, grocery store gift certificates, personal and cleaning items. Our Christmas Store helped families from Hope in the Mountains, Mountain Comprehensive Care, and the Big Sandy Community and Technical College Ready to Work Program, as well as local families who have been in the program prior to this year.  We also provided The David Fire Department, Golden Years Nursing Home, CASA, Riverside Nursing Home, One Church and two Head Start Classes with new items!  We served a total of 922 people this year through our Christmas program.  Not only in giving gifts, but showing them the love of Christ.  As each family came to shop at the Christmas store, they were presented with the Christmas story.  Volunteers also helped them find what they needed and prayed with them if they wanted prayer.

Likewise, a donation of $45 will provide for a family of three or four, and $60 will provide for five or more.
